Catholic Volleyball Camp is new for the summer of 2019! Capitalizing on the massive popularity of volleyball in the area, CVC will teach the skills necessary for kids to succeed in the sport and take their faith to new heights. For the inaugural Catholic Volleyball Camp, Montini Catholic High School will play host - allowing campers to experience full facilites for volleyball and the Catholic environment held each day of camp (in Mass, Adoration, Chapel time and Confession.)
THERESE BOYLE-NIEGO: A Former Division 1 Collegiate National Champion & All American, Therese Boyle-Niego is an amazing woman on fire for her love for God, the faith, and volleyball. She acquired many titles, such as being a former USA Professional Player, as well as a Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame Recipient. She has coached at the Univesity of Wisconsin as well as Loyola University. Therese has been the director of Elite Volleyball Program, Inc. for over 20 years. She enjoys volunteering, currently serving as coordinator for the Lower Wacker Lunch Mission, as well as assisting the Women's Center Baby Bottle Project and St. Cajetan's Volleyball Program. She currently attends Saint Cajetan Parish with her husband & 6 children.
Coach Cathleen Connolly Robinson: Joining the CVC team this year is Coach Cathleen Connolly Robinson. Coach Robinson had played at Georgetown University and is a former Mother McAuley State Volleyball Champion. Her coaching experience includes having been an assistant coach at St. Xavier University. She loves volunteering to help out teach volleyball as well as soccer, and also is a mentor in the Corporate Work Study Program at Christ the King Jesuit Prep High School. Cathy is a member of St. John of the Cross Parish. She is married and has 2 children.
Dennis Breier: Dennis joins Catholic Sports Camps as a coach for the first time this year. Dennis has a passion for teaching sports through faith to young people and gained a passion for Volleyball as a three year member of the Hinsdale South High School Volleyball team. He was the team's starting Varsity setter for two years and team captain his senior year. Dennis was also named to the all area team his senior year as a setter. He went on to coach an elite club team in Iowa City, IA for two years and has remained an active as a volleyball player since that time. Dennis comes to us from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, in Darien, IL and lives in Downers grove with his wife Kim and 6 children.
Matt Simon: Matt has been teaching volleyball to girls and boys of all ages for the past 17 years at Holy Trinity Catholic School in Westmont. IMPACT certified, he has also developed and run the Holy Trinity Summer Volleyball Camp for the past 6 years, serving over 160 players. Matt is married with three children and two grandchildren, and has been active in Holy Trinity Parish for 32 years.
RICHARD KOCHEL: Richard Kochel is proud to be serving as Camp Leader for the 2019 Catholic Volleyball Camp hosted at Montini Catholic High School in Lisle, IL. He has been involved with sports all his life on an amateur level and continues to stay active. He is excited to pair up his love of the game with his faith and entrepreneurial skills to launch the first ever Catholic volleyball camp for CSC. He currently works as director for his music company, Good Times, Great Music (www.bettermusicade.com), as well as serving as Music Director for Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Westmont, IL.
Fr. Micheal Kearney: Fr. Michael received an engineering degree from the University of Illinois in 2003, when he felt called to ministry. He joined a program called FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students). In his time serving various campuses, he felt the Lord challenging him to consider the priesthood. He was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at the age of 25 realizing the gift of life and its shortness. He decided to see if the Lord was calling him to the priesthood, and low and behold the Lord confirmed it in his time of prayer and ministry! He was ordained a priest in May of 2016. His first assignment was Visitation Catholic Church in Elmhurst, and will be moving shortly to University of St. Thomas to join Formation Staff at St. John Vianney Seminary in St. Paul.
Fr. Michael played for Sport Performance for 3 full years. He was a back row specialist, made setter for his high school, and played right side occasionally. He played on the 16 1’s, 17 1’s, and 18 1’s and set for the 18 red team his senior year. His junior year, he was part of the IHSA boy’s volleyball state championship team at Naperville Central in ‘98. In college, he continued to play volleyball at the University of Illinois club team. When he was a Catholic Missionary, he volunteered his time helping Division II University of Colorado, Colorado Springs team and Division 1 University of Missouri, Kansas City team. When he entered the seminary and was sent to the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, he helped start up a men’s club team for the university, which continues today. While at the seminary he was able to participate in the Conception Abbey volleyball team to bring home a trophy. As a priest, he has been able to help with the girls’ varsity team at ICCP.
