Operating out of Joliet, Illinois, Catholic Wrestling Camp will hold its inaugural camp in the summer of 2019! Joliet Junior College will host and power the CWC, proving a unique sport and opportunity for the Diocese of Joliet. Catholic Wrestling Camp proves that no matter the sport or event, we can always use athletics and niche sports as opportunites to evangelize and give greater glory to God!
A.J. Blahut: Coach Blahut is in his second year with Joliet Junior College as the head wrestling coach. He comes to JJC from Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School where he was the head wrestling coach. Blahut was also an assistant coach at BBCHS for several seasons. Previous to that, he was head coach at Manuel Academy in Peoria. He began his coaching career at Lincoln-Way North in 2010. Blahut has coached many state placers, qualifiers and sectional, regional and conference champions.
Blahut wrestled for Lincoln-Way Central where he was a four-year varsity starter earning numerous accomplishments. He went on to wrestle collegiately for Lincoln College, University of Nebraska at Kearny and Bloomsburg University. At Lincoln, Blahut was an NJCAA Qualifier at 184 lbs. and an NJCAA All-American, placing fifth, at 174 lbs. He also served as a team captain of the Lincoln College team that finished in the top 10 at the NJCAA National Tournament both years. He was also a two-time Academic All-American.
Nick Dado: Nick, weighing in at 164, is a sophomore at Joliet Junior College and is a member of the JJC Wolves Wrestling Team. His accomplishments include being a 2017-18 NJCAA National Qualifier.
Adrian Cervantes: Adrian,weighing in at 174, is a sophomore at Joliet Junior College and is a member of the JJC Wolves Wrestling Team. His accomplishments include being a 2017-18 NJCAA National Qualifier.
Rodsean Graham: Rodsean, weighing in at 197, is a sophomore at Joliet Junior College and on the JJC Wolves Wrestling Team. His accomplishments include being a 2017-18 NJCAA National Qualifier.
Dr. Dan Catarello: Dr. Dan Catarello is a practicing chiropractor in Joliet. He finished his collegiate wrestling career at the University of Illinois, where he was coached by Mark Johnson and Jim Heffernan. While at UofI, he earned all-american honors twice in Greco-Roman wrestling. As a coach, he's been involved at many levels and most recently at JJC. Dr. Dan is looking foward to leading the 1st Catholic Wrestling Camp this summer!
Sunday, July 28, 2019, 5-7pm
Bring the entire family for Sunday Mass @ 5:00pm in the gym. After Mass, there will be light refreshments and introductions to the camp’s core team (Coaches A.J. Blahut, Nick Dado, Adrian Cervantes, Rodsean Graham, and Dan Catarello), venue and goals of the Catholic Wrestling Camp. Also, campers will be given their official CSC T-shirts.
